Not to sound repetitive, but if you’ve been reading my posts for awhile you know one thing. I don’t ever pass up a cupcake shop. A restaurant that also serves cupcakes for dessert? EVEN BETTER!
The Daisy Cafe and Cupcakery is located on the east side of Madison in a cute little neighborhood not far from Willy St. I had eaten here for breakfast once and it was wonderful, but I had never tried their cupcakes or dinner. I had an online deal that was going to expire soon, so a few friends and I decided to take advantage and check it out for dinner.
The inside of the restaurant is adorable…very eclectic, warm, and friendly! The restaurant wasn’t very full, so I think they do most of their business during the breakfast and weekend time, but their menus looked AWESOME. Their dinner menu consisted of a good variety—pastas, fish, and their “signature” meatloaves.
Now, growing up, I hated meatloaf. With a passion. But these meatloaves on the menu weren’t your run of the mill dishes…there was a reuben meatloaf, turkey and pesto meatloaf, and the chicken, leek, and gorgonzola meatloaf (I got this!). They sounded tasty and more than just a hunk of meat, so we all decided to try them!
I got the chicken, gorgonzola, and leek meatloaf, pictured below. It was awesome! It also had some sun-dried tomatoes in it for a little kick. It was very moist and incredibly tasty. It also came with mashed potatoes (you can’t ever go wrong with those babies) and beautiful grilled veggies! I didn’t get pictures of any of the other dishes because they all looked the same, but the verdict all around the table was a thumbs-up.
We then, of course, had to get cupcakes. I got the mocha chocolate (in front), and my friends each got a blueberry-lemon and a pay-day (peanut flavored). The cakes were all moist (which is impressive for being in the case all day) and moist. The frosting was good, but I wished it was thicker in consistency (this could be a personal preference?)
All in all, we loved it. The meatloaves were a steal as being one of the cheapest items on the dinner menu and the cupcake was a great touch to the end of dinner! Would definitely recommend for dinner as well as breakfast!

A Payday cupcake??? Why didn’t I think of that!
